Parents' Information Page

1. Will college coaches, scouting services, and scouting report publications be present at your events?
Yes! We invite hundreds of Division I, II, III, Junior College, Prep School, and NAIA Coaches to observe and evaluate participants at our events. We also have a national scouting report publication present at our events to identify the top talent. As stated by Dave Leitao, Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Virginia with regards to Hoop Mountain, No other camp in the country will assist you better to receive college exposure.

2. What is included in the camp tuition?
Lodging, 3 buffet-style meals daily, 1 camp jersey for each camp session, accident and injury insurance, all camp activities, and instruction by the top college and high school basketball coaches around. Transportation to and from the local airport or bus station is available, if needed (additional cost). Additionally, individual and team awards will be given.

3. Is there adequate supervision in the dormitories?
We have staff working around the clock to make sure that each camper is safe, comfortable, and secure in the dormitories. Coaches will also be in the dormitories to secure the utmost supervision of student athletes. Camp directors Steve Gibbs and Greg Kristof will constantly be supervising in the dormitories.

4. Are roommate requests allowed?
Yes, please indicate your roommate request on the application and we will honor your request.

5. If my son attends the Super Week Camp or Junior Elite Camp  and wishes to stay for a position camp that directly follows, can he stay in the same dormitory?
A camper can attend the point guard, post player or shooting camp and stay over for (during the off night) at Stonehill before or after attending a Super Week Session or Junior Elite Camp Session. There will be meals and an extra basketball program provided for any camper who wishes to stay for the extra night. There is no extra charge for extra meals, lodging or basketball program (if the camper is attending multiple sessions).

6. Are there athletic trainers on duty?
Hoop Mountain will have certified athletic trainers on duty for the safety of the campers. Also, there will be nurses on duty to administer any and all medications that a camper may have to take. All of our staff is very professional and has camper safety in mind above all.

7. Do any of your camps overlap each other?
The  Sharpshooter University and Elite Point Guard Camp overlap each other, as well as Post Player Prep School and Junior Elite Camp. All of our other camps are scheduled so that you may attend all of them as you choose.

8. What are your Pick up and departure times?
Super Week I:   Arrival 6/30 10:00am-1:00pm -- Departure: 7/3 2:00pm-5:00pm
SharpShooter Camp: Arrival 7/3 11:00am- 1:00 pm – Departure: 7/5 11:30 am
Point Guard Academy:
Arrival 7/3 11:00am -1:00pm -- Departure: 7/5 12:30pm
Super Week II: Arrival 7/5 9:30am-1:30pm -- Departure: 7/8 12:00pm
Junior Elite Camp: Arrival 7/8 10am-1pm -- Departure: 7/11 3:00-4:00pm
Post Player Prep: 7/ 8 Arrival 10:00-1:00pm July 10 Depart 11:30am
New York Summer Classic I: 7/13 registration 4pm-5pm -- Departure 9pm
New York Summer Classic II: 7/19 registration 4pm-5pm -- Departure 9pm

9. How do I get to the respective camp locations?

Directions to Stonehill College

From Boston and Directly North of Boston

  • Follow Route 93 South
  • At Route 3/93 split, bear right.
    Follow signs for Route 93 South to Route 95 Dedham, Providence
  • Stay left to Exit #4 -- Route 24 South/Brockton, Fall River.
  • Exit 17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

From The Cape

  • Route 25 West
  • Into Route 495 North
  • Exit #7A -- Route 24 North
  • Exit #17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

From West of Boston

  • Route 90 (Mass Pike) East
  • Route 95 South
  • At junction of 95 South and 93 North, Stay straight on Route 93 North heading toward Braintree. Do not exit on Route 95 South.
  • Take Exit #4 for Route 24 South/Brockton, Fall River
  • Exit #17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

From Northern CT, Western MA, and Upper NY

  • Route 84 East in CT or Route 90 (Mass Pike) East in MA
  • Exit #11A -- Route 495 South
  • Exit #7A -- Route 24 North/Boston
  • Exit #17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

From The Northwest of Boston

  • Route 93 South
  • Exit #37B -- Route 95 South
  • Stay on Route 95 South past Waltham and Dedham
  • At junction of 95 South and 93 North, Stay in left lanes (Exit #12) for Route 93 North toward Braintree. Do not take exit for Route 95 South.
  • Take Exit #4 for Route 24 South/Brockton, Fall River
  • Exit #17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

From Long Island, NYC, New Jersey, Southern CT, and Rhode Island

  • Route 95 North into Massachusetts
  • Exit #6A -- Route 495 South
  • Exit #7A -- Route 24 North/Boston
  • Exit #17B -- Route 123 West/Easton
  • College is 1/2 mile on right

Directions to Hobart College

From the West:

Follow I-90 East (New York State Thruway) to exit 42. Turn right onto Route 14 south after toll plaza. Follow Rt. 14 to Geneva (approximately 6 miles). At the first traffic light (corners of Exchange and North Sts.) turn right onto North Street. At second traffic light (corners of North and N. Main Sts.) turn left onto N. Main St. Proceed south on N. Main St. approximately 1.5 miles to the junction with Routes 5 and 20 (Hamilton St.). Follow the signs for 5 and 20 West. The Colleges will be one block away on the left hand side.

From the East:

Follow I-90 West (New York State Thruway) to exit 42. Turn right onto Route 14 south after toll plaza. Follow Rt. 14 to Geneva (approximately 6 miles). Take Route 14 North into Geneva. Follow the signs for Routes 5 and 20 West (Hamilton St.). The Colleges will be one block away on the left hand side.

From the Binghamton/Ithaca areas:

Follow Route 17 West to Route 96 into Ithaca. From Ithaca, take Route 96 to Route 96A at Ovid, to Routes 5 and 20 West in Geneva. Follow 5 and 20 into Geneva for about 5 miles. The Colleges will be on the left hand side.


Directions to Island Garden

From the East

Southern State Parkway to Exit 17N (Hempstead Ave). Go north following signs for Nassau Blvd.  Take Nassau Blvd to Hempstead Tpke and make a right. Take Hempstead Tpke to Cherry Valley Ave (one block) and make a left.  Island Garden is 100 yards north of Hempstead Tpke on Cherry Valley Avenue.

From the West

Belt Parkway, LIE or Grand Central to Cross Island Parkway.  Take Cross Island to Hempstead Tpke (Ave.) east.  Take Hempstead Tpke through Elmont and Franklin Square to one block past Nassau Blvd which is Cherry Valley Ave.  Make a left and Island Garden is 100 yards on the left.  OR LIE, Grand Central or Northern State Parkway to New Hyde Park Road south.   Proceeds all the way to Hempstead Tpke and make a left. Proceed to Cherry Valley Ave and make a left.

From the Northeast

New Hyde Park Rd South exit of either LIE or Grand Central Pkway. Follow directions immediately above.

From the Throgs Neck or Whitestone Bridges

Take Cross Island Parkway or Clearview Expressway south to Hempstead Tpke (Ave) east.  Follow Hempstead Tpke to Cherry Valley Ave and make a left.
