Ed Atlas and Lawrence Jackson are the directors. As childhood friends they played as a youth in Hempstead, Long Island, NY in the same playgrounds and recreation center gyms as former ABA's New York Nets and NBA legend, Julius "Dr. "J" Erving. With their knowledge, experience and basketball expertise, Hoop Mountain Mid Atlantic intends to be a major success in helping young men with their basketball aspirations.

Managing Partner and Director of Player Personnel

Coach Ed Atlas. Coach Atlas has played and coached for over 23 years on U.S. Army post and company level basketball teams in DC, VA, NC, SC, OK, TX, Korea, Italy and Turkey (including a concurrent military and semi-professional season in Istanbul). He played for winning teams with the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon during General Colin Powell's tenure and for the White House Communications Agency during the Clinton Administration. Coach Atlas played on 1994 and 2003 NBA Hoop-it-Up Division Championship teams in Washington DC.

Coach Atlas has coached on the elementary school level, YMCA, US Army Dependent Youth Activity leagues and for Silver Hill, MD Boys and Girls Clubs. Coach Atlas is currently Director of Player Personnel for Hoop Mountain Mid Atlantic and assistant coach for the MD Blazers 14U Boys basketball. Coach Atlas obtained his Masters Degree of Education, with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University, Washington, DC. He is writing a basketball book entitled, "The Art of Hoops".

Lawrence Jackson, a Hempstead, NY native who also witnessed many of DR. J’s highlights brings his passion for the game and business acumen to the Hoop Mountain team. Retired after 25 years from ITT Industries,Mr. Jackson would like to return some of his good fortune to the community. Mr. Jackson played basketball in high school and coached at the elementary and junior high school level. As the director of basketball operations Mr. Jackson brings his business and organizational expertise to Hoop Mountain Mid Atlantic team.

Hoop Mountain prides itself in assisting scholastic basketball players to meet their athletic and academic goals.
